Two days ago, we KCE called out 9-1-1 Director Josh Nielsen for putting into place a new system for calling Police and Fire dispatchers that was dangerous. It took about a minute to hear the option to talk to a police/fire dispatcher as #7. While it is still #7, it is the first option to be stated during the recorded message.

Kenosha Water Utility Burglarized over Weekend

KCE received information that The Kenosha Water Utility main office (4401 Green Bay Rd) was burglarized in the morning hours of Saturday, August 27, 2022. Thousands of dollars in equipment was stolen. KPD detectives are working the case.

Reached Tuesday evening, General Manager Curt Czarnecki and Water Utility Commission Chairman Alderman David Bogdala both confirmed that the Burglary did occur in the early morning hours this last Saturday. Czarnecki told KCE:

“I can confirm that a burglary occurred at the Kenosha Water Utility main office. Kenosha Water Utility staff are actively participating with the Kenosha Police Department regarding the investigation into the incident.…..Water Utility staff will remain an active participant and can provide more details as the investigation progresses.”

According to a source, this burglary was executed on a large level and had an appearance of sophistication and coordination.

Update: Per Sgt Galley of The Kenosha Police Department:

“The water utility was broken into on the 27th.  It was a crew of at least three males that entered the property and they were there for a couple hours going through several vehicles before consolidating the stolen items onto one van that was ultimately stolen.  The van was located in Chicago yesterday and the operator was arrested.  The investigators are in route down there currently. Additional property loss submissions have come in putting the property loss in the 10s of thousands. A U-Haul truck and another vehicle were observed through security video meeting up with the stolen water utility van following the burglary in the back lot of BBQ’D Productions 4235 – Green Bay RD.”
